Installation of a concealed themostatic shower valve - dual outlet
Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.51 PM
The plumber who installed my concealed themostatic shower valve has confirmed that it is running hot or cold because the feeds are the wrong way around. The plumber has stated that this mistake was the result of not knowing what concealed valve had been purchased at the time of the first fix was carried out. Is this correct? I thought the orientation of pipework for hot and cold feeds is standard.

Hi every plumber knows you put hot on the left and cold on the right
There are still valves out there with hot on the right
I must admit I would not have done first fix until I see the valve I have to fix
Thanks

The pipes are supposed to be hot on the left, cold on the right. Some older pipework is run the other way.
Sometimes shower valves can be altered to fit pipes that are installed the other way round.

Pipework should be hot left cold right however the problem could be a faulty thermostatic valve etc etc

I have never seen a shower valve that hasn't been hot (left) cold (right)
Hopefully the pipes can be traced further back down the line and swapped around without damaging any tiles etc
Hope you get sorted 😁
