Replacing end boards and toekick on existing base units.
Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.50 PM
The base units I have are in excellent condition, except for the side boards and toekick. Is it possible to replace those without having to dispose of the otherwise good base units? This would be done along with replacing the worktop and wall tiles.
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Simple. End panels are clad-onto the outer side of kitchen base or wall units, then fixed from inside the cabinet. Kick plinths are typically held in position by spring clips attached to the legs of the base units. Easily removed and replaced.

Yes, providing the original units have been installed well (i.e. are plumb and level), these parts are mainly decorative and can completely transform the look of your kitchen if replaced. Working from a startpoint of poorly fitted units can restrict the quality of the finish you can expect by cladding it with new material, without refitting all the original units.

It is a fairly easy job for a Kitchen fitter to change these components, as long as a good match to the existing colour or grain can be found
