How to block/raise an old coal chute at floor level

Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.50 PM

I have a air vent /old coal chute which is about 12" square on the side of the house right at floor level. When it rains heavy I believe that water runs into my cellar from this point. Whilst I think that the vent is useful for airflow, what would be a suitable option to raise this? Just bricking it up and replacing a brink with an airbrick?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?
