Rendered chimney
Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.24 PM
Hello, I’ve just had my chimney re built and then rendered with a scratch coat and then second coat of cement render. It looks an ok cement grey colour. I want to know if it needs painting? I’d rather not paint it as introduces ongoing maintenance and is hard to access.
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi Alex,
It doesn't need painting as such although I suspect it would look much better. If you are content with a grey cement colour, you have saved yourself some future maintenence.
Regards
John

Hi guys..
Would recommend lime cement render... cement render will leave you guys with come backs within time & probably need to pay out again 🙉....
Paint if you want / but no need
If you guys are happy with it..

Cement render is a bad idea it will crack in the end and cause issues, I would use lime render which can withstand freeze thaw and doesn't need painting

Cement Render should be fine!, just use a good sealer, Paintmasters Cement Sealer will do the job and leaves a smashing finish!. 👍
