Unfortunately you have had a bad experience with this Contractor. You will have to give him chance to put it right but sounds like he won't you can go to trading standards it will be hard to get your money back However you shouldn't have paid him all the money until satisfied with the quality and finish of his work.

Hi Ursula, For the moment before you contact Trading Standards or court action you should get another contractor to give you a professional opinion on the state of the works and the costs to put things right. Then contact your contractor with the results and give them 14 days to put things right to your satisfaction. or you will allow the other contractor to finish the works and send the bill to them.Unfortunately if as you say the work was completed in December and was not sealed then damage to the colour hardener finish will already have occurred due to the rain and weather by now ( August ). Concrete printing is a highly specialised part of paving in the UK and any good contractor should be able to put things right without to much of a problem. ( the colouring and sealing is straight forward to do ). I would suggest you get the job sealed ASAP before the winter because frost and snow damage on an unsealed slab could result in cracking, crazing, and surface blow out and end up having to dig it up and start over again. So in general course of action should be .....give your contractor 14 days to put it right, if no joy get the slab sealed and finished, then take action through the small claims court to get your money back plus damages. ( trading Standards take to long in our experience ) Hope this helps with your problem.
