Ask a questionNew Build
NEW RENDER has dirty bands around the property
Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.24 PM
Hi. Sorry this goes on a bit... THE MAIN QUESTION: Our new build (2017) was built/bought fully rendered with K-rend. From the outset we noticed two discoloured thick lines (bands) around the house on 3 of 4 sides. This is visible in dull light not bright sunlight and almost matches scaffolding levels that were erected around the property during build. Is this acceptable? THE BACK STORY: We have questioned this with developers as it doesn’t seem right. To us it looks like dirty, possibly splashed from scaffolding but the developers and rendering company are pushing an explanation of “circumstances beyond their control.” This explanation comes nearly two years after finalising build as we complained / snagged it in the very early stages! And it follows comments from developers of, “let it weather in for a year” then, “let it weather in for two years.” AND only a few weeks back we were told a colour wash was on order, THEN a week/two later they weren’t going to do it on “expert” advice from Parex! I seriously feel like they’re taking the piss and trying to get beyond a two year guarantee period (we raised the problem early though so not overly concerned with the 2 yr thing, I will take them to court if need be). I understand discolouration can occur, staining over time and weathering issues but darker bands from the start? Where do we stand? Thanks in advance for advice.
