Can i reuse floor tiles without removing adhesive

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.24 PM

Hi I've lifted tiles to move them to a different room. I can't get the adhesive of the bottom of them is there anything I can use to level the adhesive already on the bottom of the tiles before relaying it?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Best thing to do is to soak the tiles to remove as much adhesive as possible , use a thicker notch trowel to get the level

Use a grinder to remove excess adhesive. You can reuse the tiles but unless they're very expensive tiles it may be worth just buying new ones in the long run.

HI. There isn’t any reason why they can’t be re used. But the re fitting could be difficult as the thickness of the adhesive could vary, as most floors need an extra build up of adhesive in areas.

Grinder would be a solution, but it depends on the thickness of the adhesive. As for using them as they are, without removing the adhesive, it all depends on the floor. Hence the reason to always buy the number of tiles needed plus a small percentage of extra tiles, just for this situations, when you need a couple extra.
