Plastering & Rendering

How do you deal with blown plaster on breeze block walls in a 1960s House.

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.23 PM

We have bought a 1960s detached house. The upstairs bedrooms have been built with solid breeze block walls and wallpapered. The plaster on most of them has blown and we are told this is probably due to the movement over the years. There are many cracks. Can these walls be skimmed or replastered? ....structural engineer confirmed no issues.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

I would get the customer to get the advice of a structural engineer, if all ok I would recommend cutting out the cracks screwing eml over the cracks then bond and skim them. If the whole wall is blown then take off all blown plaster screw eml over cracks then float and set in sand and cement. Hope this helps
