Gas Works

Gas Meter - working pressure

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.45 PM

When testing working pressure at the gas meter should one appliance be on and set to full gas rate (eg combi boiler / HW running) OR should all appliances on the installation be turned on and set to full gas rate at the same time? UPDATE - I am studying for my ACS gas certification and have two separate books that contradict each other which is the reason for the question. So to correct the two people who have said this question should not be asked. Questions should ALWAYS be asked as it’s how we learn however gas work should not be carried out unless you hold the relevant qualifications or are under supervision of someone who does.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

All appliances should be on maximum demand as you are testing for worst case scenario.

Unless you are a gas engineer you should not be testing the gas rate

These are not the kind of questions that should be asked or answered on mybuilder. If you need to ask this question you shouldn’t be carrying out the work. If you’re gas safe registered and don’t know the answer you shouldn’t be gas safe. Working pressure at the meter...say no more!! EDIT- if you’re studying for your acs then you need to ask these questions in the right place. Either your trainer or on the correct forums. Asking questions like these on sites where members of the public have access is very irresponsible. Any gas safe engineers get annoyed when people answer these questions as a little information can be dangerous. By all means ask questions but ask them in the right place (not on websites where the public have access).

Well depends if you are gas rating the boiler itself or if you are checking if the boiler has enough working pressure and If so then yes all gas appliances should be running.
