Electric shower replacement

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.25 PM

I am having problems with my electric shower at the moment. The water is not warming up as much as it used to and sometimes there is a wave of cold water coming through as well. I just think the shower is broken and needs to be replaced. As this is a fairly cheap shower, I was planning to replace it with a better, more expensive version. My question is regarding my current wiring and if it would support a more powerful shower? How do I check this and also how do I check there won't be able problems with the water pressure? I will be doing everything myself and need professional advice. Thanks

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

As installing a shower is a notifiable job under part p this work should only be carried out by a qualified electrician

Hi, if you don’t know whether the wiring that’s in place is able to support the shower you plan on putting in then I strongly advise you employ an electrician to carry out the work, this is a specialised location and could fall under notifiable work.

You need an electrician to check your wiring and supply arrangements. Also need to test rcd etc. If you don’t have the test equipment to do this then you won’t know if it’s safe. Just because it works doesn’t mean it’s right. It is the highest current drawing piece of equipment in your home where you stand with wet feet. Don’t take chances

You should not be doing any electrical work unless you are qualified and can issue the appropriate documentation.
