If you buy a house with newly plastered ceilings, how do you know of there may have been Artex for example underneath it?

the area we are buying in seems to have had a lot of houses where artex was in fashion. i am concerned about the asbestos risk and if i buy a house and need to drill the ceiling one day!
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

you may notice that the surface area has ripple marks in it as the plaster was not applied thick enough. Another telling factor is to look at the coving to see if it has been slight berried with the added coat of plaster. It may appear wavy along the edge of the coving.

You are really worrying for nothing. You can tell if a ceiling has been plastered over artex or for another reason, only if it has coving fitted and you see less of the coving-you can not see the coving edge. You are not putting your family at risk in any way if every ceiling was plastered over artex. Artex contains low levels and its sealed over. Buy because you like the place, im sure there will be lots more to spend your money on and worry about. regards tjh
