Would sanding be included with painting

My door frames are thick with paint , would the painter sand theses or just paint over them again.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

If too thick then sanding them down whould be better

Hi there, yes definitely sand them down before painting as this will make sure you have a much more smooth finish on the door frames or any woodwork.

He will need to sand them down to make a better soother finish, if removal of all the paint is required then a paint stripper can be used then will need sanding down.

It would depend on the amount of money you are looking to spend. However in the long run stripping and sanding would be you best option.

he should know to discuss this when viewing the job to give a quote whether you wanted them sanding or to save some money. some people charge more to sand them down but if he didn't say anything it should be expected that he does it.

They should always be sanded down, as part of the prep work for painting, but it's to flatten the surface, and provide a key for the new paint, rather than remove existing paint. If you do want them stripped, I'm sure if you ask he will do this.
