Gap between splashback and worktop
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.25 PM
Kitchen fitter has left a 5m gap between worktop and splashback for expansion? I was under the impression the splashback would have sat on the worktop?
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

There should be no gap between the worktop and splashback. The splashback should sit on top of the worktop.
A 5mm gap between the worktop and wall would be ok.

No gap required although it can be sealed with a coloured silicone.

You can leave a sight gap as long as splashback is sat on top of worktop with a bead of silicone colour to match to seal from moisture.
