Plumbing

Sink is not draining quick enough

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.25 PM

I triple checked and used all plumbing liquids but it just goes way slower than I would like (I just moved into new property). Not a full on blockage and I don't think the actual pipes are blocked - just kind of slow drainage. Is there nothing I can do?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

This may not be a blockage but a back falling pipe. It’s very hard to diagnose this without seeing the pipe in its entirety, This would also cause the sink to drain slowly. Also Try taking the trap off from under the sink. Just unscrew the compression nuts on the trap and try and clean it out l!

It sounds to me that you have a partial blockage or restriction in the outlet pipe. Start at the sink waste and remove and clean then follow the pipe work and check its not obstructed to the Drain. Or put a worm down inside the pipe to clear any blockage. And The worst and last thing check your drain as in might be sludged up.

Don't put any drain cleaning agents down the sink, in my experience they never work, and can make matters worse. 1st check outside gully or drain. 2nd take trap off and check for blockage. if it's push fit fittings, dismantle and check pipe work. Or if solvent weld, you may have to cut section out to access.

Make sure your waste pipe is at the right fall. It might be that the water is not draining away properly look at pipe out side.
