Partial Rewire Documentation
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.25 PM
Hi all, hope someone can help. I purchased a 1926 semi that had an old wooden backboard mounted fusebox (with the wire fuses etc), off centre lights in rooms and 1 socket per room. Ive paid £3800 for the house to have a new consumer unit (relocated) new lights throughout, all new switches and at least 3 double sockets per room to replace the single one that was in there. The electrician is coming back tomorrow to do some last bits such as wiring the smoke alarm. The only room that hasnt been done is the kitchen purely because its all getting ripped out in the coming months but that been partially upgraded within the last 10-15 years. My question is what paperwork should the electrician (who is Part P & NEIC registered) be providing. He is telling me no full rewire cert is needed as its not a full rewire (kitchen is the only room hes not done along with the original lights / switches in bathroom & separate WC). What information should I be receiving to make sure my legal obligations are covered and any insurance I have is valid?
