Cats destroying my tomato crops
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.25 PM
I have recently planted some tomato and strawberry crops in my garden (quite a big area). There are some cats in the neighbourhood walking through them and sometimes destroying the newly developing crops. Unfortunately, there is no real barrier, so my question is are there any natural remedies that will drive the cats away? I would be grateful for any advice. Thanks

Crush a couple of garlic globes in a bucket of water. Leave to go a bit smelly!
Keep the bucket handy and regularly water the ground with it around your crops.
Also useful to deter cats soiling your lawn.
Good luck.

Putting down smellies is fine but they soon get washed away in the rain you will soon get bored of that. High frequency blippers also very good but are expensive, you don't know when they've run out of batteries and they go rusty and die. Fake cats and mirrors, bits of dried out old orange peel all over the place I'm not sure.
Cats hate getting wet. They really hate it. This worked for me: buy a high pressure pump action water pistol from the local pound shop and keep it loaded by the back door. A few squirts from that they will soon get fed up and stop coming around!
Totally harmless, totally effective, totally good fun!

You can buy a device that lets off a high frequency sound that cats do not like, they work wonders. Best of luck! -Guy

Cats also dont like reflections so some small mirrors are good and a fake cat with marbles for eyes works well .

Try some clear glass bottles or jars filled with water, cats doesn't like their own reflection. My customer said it really helps to keep cats away.
