Woodburners are actually carbon natural, and better for the environment. Gas is a focalised fuel and therefore not good for the environment. Correctly install log burner will be much much cheaper to run than any gas appliance. Having a Woodburning Stove can also reduce household fuel bills by up to 50% Frankly it’s a no brainier. Wood burners are here to stay and with the clean air strategy and the new eco stoves in production solid fuel appliances in my opinion are more cost effective , easier to maintain and more efficient in producing heat to your property , all defra exempt stoves are producing at least 80% efficiency,gas is a very expensive commodity which the majority of heat will be lost into the chimney system.

What ever you decide on the preparation are the same chimney needs to be clean a new cowling fitted 1) If it’s a Wood Burner the Fire place may have to be altered as the Wood Burner will have to sit back flooring area will have to be tiled would use a certified installer 2) The Gas fire will have to be installed by a certified Gas Installer it may come down to the cost Wood Burners have become very popular
