New toilet fitting

Hy,my advice is to call a plumber or a handyman to change toilet for your.if you don't have a stopcock to stop water then you can creat a massive damage to your house.thing look simple but is not so simple.thank you

Relatively easy if you have a basic knowledge of DIY. Firstly stop the water from getting into the cistern by either turning off the isolating valve on the pipe leading into the cistern by turning the central screw through 90 degrees. If there isn’t one of those you will have to turn he water off at the main stopcock, which is normally under the kitchen sink. (Big brass tap usually with blue plastic pipe coming into it at the bottom, it might need a bit of waggling and turn on the cold tap in the sink to make sure it’s right off). Back to the cistern - pull the plug and the cistern should empty. Undo the nut on the pipe below the cistern and disconnect the pipe ( if you’ve turned off the water with the 90 degree screw thing make sure you undo the nut above it rather than below it or you could be mopping up for a week). Having dealt with the cistern, now take the top off and it should be empty. You might need to twist away at the central silvery push button a bit, they generally have an outside ring on them which needs an anti-clockwise spin. When you have the top off have a look at the back. There are generally two screws attaching the cistern to the wall, undo these ( might be tight and rusty ). When this is done the final screws are holding the main loo to the floor. Whatever screws they are they need to be undone and removed. Once they are out you are almost there. Pull the whole toilet and cistern up and away from the wall in one movement, it should slide away from the pipe on the wall quite easily and you end up with the big hole which you can plug with what you like ( preferably a pastic sainsbury’s Bag but certainly not the family cat) Bit of a hint - involve next door neighbours a bit, often they can help with where pipes are and might even have a bit of plumbing knowledge. Hi, Most of the time anyone can change a toilet, provided there is a shut off valve for the water. You shouldn’t need to plug the hole as the parts you will get go straight back over it. If you do decide to go ahead and do it, wear some gloves!

Hi, I would advise you to contact a local plumber to complete this work as most companies will give you a 12 month parts and labour guarantee for the work they carry out. You could fit the new toilet yourself but if it doesnt go to plan then you will end up calling a plumber out anyway.

yes anyone can fit a toilet! i make good money going round afterwards puting it right,get a good qualified plumber to do it.
