Do I have to accept a washer dryer or can I insist on a washing machine?

Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.50 PM

In my new flat the sales manager said they cannot change the washer dryer to a washing machine as there is no official outside space for drying. The flat has a balcony but that doesn't count. I would really like the washing machine as it's more efficient and hopefully lasts longer. My argument would be that not all laundry is allowed to be tumble dried, so how are you supposed to dry that? Is there any precedent, regulation, whatever I can quote to convince them otherwise?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Sorry were all quote on quote “builders” on here to keep it simple so basically we are not legal professionals so can’t really tell you legal quotes or give advise for arguments/disagreements with landlords/building agents/management. What I will say is drying wet laundry inside your property might cause you to develop damp issues if you don’t properly ventilate the building while it is drying. A lot of people don’t want to open there windows etc while laundry is drying as this makes the building cold but not only will this make laundry dry quicker it will also get rid of moisture in the air that otherwise gets trapped in the property. I think this is something your just gonna have to accept unfortunately. Regards Frankie BT Roofing Services

I agree with the previous Anser but what l might add is too look at the lease holder agreement and see if there is a restriction on hanging out washing if yes then you will have to comply, if no do what you want good luck with this Regards Les

I agree with the previous answer but it depends on the washer dryer wether it is a condensing dryer or a externaly vented dryer the condensing dryer are usually A++ rated so they are very efficient.
