gaps showing on lining paper after painting

Use a lightweight filler to fill the gaps. Allow to dry and sand with sanding pad or very lightweight paper. The paint with at least two coats of emulsion.

Hi when I have applied New lining paper to a wall or room I then apply a first coat of paint which is called a mist coat, this is a thin coat of emulsion or you can use contract matt which is the preferred choice for new surfaces allow to dry for a couple of hours and then mix up some powder filler, again preferred choice easifill 60, apply filler to joints ,carefully scrape of axcess filler, allow to dry off and then fill again and scrape off excess once fully dry very gently sand down , this should take no effort at all as excess filler was remove when you applied earlier next , apply a mist coat of emulsion to all filled joints and allow to dry fully you now can apply 2 full coats of your chosen colour of emulsion Regards Paul (P.T. You can fill the seams with a good quality filler such as easifill or toupret. Go for the ones you mix yourself, abrade and paint, sounds simple doesn't it? But there are words of caution. Be very careful to go over with filler at the minimum you can, i use a very thin flexable blade. I say this as you need to be very careful with lining paper when abrading, you can easily rip into the paper itself. Abrade lightly carefully selecting the grit. As it's been painted i would smooth out from the seams to blend in the appearance. It's unfortunately going to need a good few re-applied coats then to avoid any flashing

You can also use a overlap and repair adhesive but you have to know what your doing as it can be difficult

Theres nothing you can do right now ... the person who put the wall paper messed up leaving the gaps between them. you have to remove it because even with another coat of paint the gaps will be still visible
