Tank & Cylinder sizes

Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.49 PM

1. When sizing a loft storage tank or F&E tank what is taken into consideration and is there a calculation? 2. When sizing a hot water cylinder whether vented / unvented / thermal store etc what is taken into consideration and is there a calculation?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

There is no specific calculation but a standard f and e tank will do for a standard 19 rad heating system and regarding cylinder 221 litre tank will cope with most houses and bathrooms

I agree with the other answer but I'd like to add that depending on you property size etc number of bathrooms and types of bathroom. Do they have booster pumps etc. If you shower uses (x) amount of water per minute a experienced plumbing and heating engineer will be able to advise you. Also depending on the size of your loft hatch you may need to fit a coffin tank.

His answer is good, but when installing a loft tank there would be the issue of the base support for the tank of at least 100mm all around both tanks sitting on maybe 18mm marine ply for safety purposes as well as the support for both main and feeder tank
