Remove radiator system from combi boiler?

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.03 PM

We have a gas combi boiler (correction - aparently it's not a combi boiler, just an 'ordinary' one) for heating & hot water. For various reasons, we would like to remove the radiator system, but want to go on using the boiler for hot water. Is this possible? Also, would it be ok to leave the underfloor pipework in situ once the radiators are removed? We'd rather not have all the floors up! Thank you all very much for your responses, I think we have enough now.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Yes you can remove all the radiators and leave the pipes under the floor. You would have to remove any programmer, time clock and room stat for the heating. And connect the heating flow and return together out side the boiler leaving the filling loop.

Yes you can loop the flow and return - and have it for hot water only. I have come across a lot properties like this. It’s very easy to do. A R Gas Engineers

I agree with the general logic of previous answers. But there is more ... If the boiler is under warranty then the manufacturer will probably refuse to honour the warranty as the boiler is not being used as intended. Also, some combi's rely on the radiators as a heat dump after running hot water. Is your boiler one such?
