How to tell if a plastered wall has been sealed?

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.03 PM

Hi there, I am looking to paint one of my walls which was plastered a few months ago (I unfortunately never got round to painting it due to work). The wall has been plastered and sanded; but I’m not certain if it has already been sealed. How would we be able to tell if it has been sealed? Touching the wall feels smooth and not rough at all. Thank you. :-)

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Give it a mist coat anyway. Better to be safe.

If the new plaster has been sanded without paint it will always need sealing up, nice mist coat will do it lovely, PVA leaves a sheen to plaster, never use this!! And mist coat has a colour or shade. Best way to tell, plaster never comes pre sealed

I would give it a blinding coat. 50% water 50% emotion paint.

the wall should not have needed to be sanded if plastered properly, give it a mist coat first
