How can I check if I fridge is still running as the light has fused out?

Hi there, regardless to your concern you don't have to worry about. The bulb doesn't have nothing to do with the good functionality of the fridge. My fridge doesn't have the bulb working for more then 1 year and it's working perfectly. To check if it's working keep the door open 2-3 minutes and after shut the door, you certainly gonna notice a small shake of the fridge and you gonna heard a slightly noise when the compressor it's gonna start. You say the fridge/freezer is making no noises and the temperature is rising? Could possibly be that when the light bulb blew it took out the fuse in the plug. Ensure the fuse in the plug is ok and that the thermostat is not set to zero 0 (zero is off) Turn the thermostat up-to 6 and you should here a click from the thermostat and then the compressor should whirl into action. You should be able to hear the compressor running. If you hear the thermostat click but the compressor does not run it could be that the fridge as lost it’s refrigerant. The best way to test a fridge is still working if the light has gone out, simply turn the thermostat up the compressor will start up, some older fridges take a little time to start up however you will hear the and feel the vibration from the compressor, if the compressor does not start up call a appliance Electrician not a Electrician, we as Electricians can only do the simple test as above to confirm the fridge is not working, we would then advise you call a Electrical Appliance ENgineer.

Another check is to leave the door open for a few minutes. Newer fridges with sound an alarm to warn that the door has been left open. Alternatively buy a new bulb and replace, this will then tell you if you still have an electric supply to the fridge.
