How to choose a toilet?
Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.23 PM
I'm redesigning and refitting a bathroom by myself for the first time and while I know aesthetics I'm going after - I'm not too sure about technicalities on how do I choose the right toilet? What do I need to consider when making my decision?

Good evening if your thinking of back to wall or or wall mounted you need to have the cold feed supply with isolater in the right place left or right or up from floor . If your moving the toilet to another place in the room you need to make sure there is enoth drop on the soil pipe .Hope that helps

Take photos and go to a dedicated plumbing merchants like TDL in Aylesford, or City Plumbing. They will go through the catalogues with you and discuss what's possible based on your budget. I recommend Kevin @ TDL, there is a showroom there too. Good luck, Hillcrest Plumbing

Hi Ollie,
The technicalities and aesthetics of a bathroom go hand in hand.
A clean lined near invisible wc works well with big tiles say 1200mm x 600mm carrera marble effect porcelain tiles with a staggered 1mm joint line on the vertical.
Getting the design stage perfect is a journey !

The other answer is ok but if you are going for a back to wall toilet ,you should run the cold supply from under ,say the bath or the vanity basin so you can isolate the toilet in case of a leak as once the unit is in place you won’t be able to get to the feed inside the unit. Hope that helps .
