Bathroom Fitting

Wall mounted sink from a pedestal sink.

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.23 PM

So I've recently moved into a new-ish house (around 5 years old) and I'm thinking of updating the bathroom. The existing sink in just a small basic pedestal sink. I'm wondering if its possible to redirect the plumbing behind the wall so that I can have a wall mounted sink fitted instead?? The walls in the house all have hollow plaster boards which has helped hide wires etc in other rooms.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Yes if walls are stud it’s possible to conceal pipes But make sure you also have a good fixing in studs for basin

If not stud walls will most likely be dot and dab, wall can be chopped out and then pipes chased into wall.

You will need to install some plywood into timber frame to support the wall hung basin but the pipe work should be easy to hide in the wall Regards nick

Yes while agreeing with the previous plumber I would add use solvent weld pipework Inthe wall and use 32mm sweep bends as they will be easier to clear should the need arise in a few years time. Test the hot / cold feeds before closing wall and insulate pipes.
