Moving washing machine into downstairs toilet

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.44 PM

We have a small kitchen and we want to put a dishwasher into our kitchen. Our downstairs toilet is next to the kitchen and our washing machine will fit in there. We just wanted to know if it’s feasible to plumb the washing machine into the downstairs toilet?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Yes you can take a cold feed front be nearest cold pipe, and a waste pipe will have to be put in, either replace the pan connector behind the toilet to send a waste pipe into that or drill through the wall and connect into the soil stack or nearest gulley, a washing machine trap will be needed inside to prevent smells from the drains

Yes, tee in to the nearest cold water pipe and fit washing machine tap (also hot if you have an archaic washing machine), connection for waste to be made with 40mm waste pipe with washing machine trap, either drill through the wall and take to nearest gulley, or if there is adequate access to pan connector the connection could be made here, although the engineer will talk you through the best option.

Yes, if there is access to the soil stack in the downstairs toilet then a branch can be added either to an existing boss type connector or using a solvent well boss adaptor. The washing mashine waste pipe can be plumbed in as normal not forgetting the trap.

If your going to run waste outside make sure it goes into a foul drain not a rain drain..
