Re-lay and level part of a patio

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.44 PM

Our patio has a few wobbly slabs. Is it possible to lift, fix and relay slabs without breaking them?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Generally yes. However, if they were laid on a Wet mortar mix then it will entail cutting the bed out in order to create space for a new bed. Bricklayers and DiyTommy Walsh lay on wetmix which is fine until there is a problem. Properly trained Paviors lay on a semi dry sharp sand/ cement mix which provides a solid bed but allows for repairs.

Definitely possible would need to be very careful when lifting and cleaning the old mortar from the back. Clean out joints first to create room for movement then lever from underneath with a nice wide bolster. 👍🏼
