Conservatories

how do i damproof my conservatory walls

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 2.50 PM

The project is to build a conservtory consisting of 2 walls of hardwood and double glazing down to the ground. The other 2 walls are created by 2 walls of the house. The roof is lean to with 18 degree angle and pan tiles. The tiles will be properly flashed in with lead. There is 2 metres of wall between the conservatory roof and the eaves of the house. Will rain soak into this section of wall migrate downwards behind the lead flashing and appear on the wall below which will now be an inside wall. If so what is the best way to prevent it. The house is a 2 story barn conversion and has SOLID walls 3 ft thick at the bottom and 15" thick at the top.

This is a hard one to answer because there are no plans to look at. If your leadwork is tucked into the brickwork by 25mm it shouldnt leak.

The problem you will have with this design is the roof pitch is too shallow for pan tiles!
