How to look after annuals in summer?
Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.49 PM
I got quite a few hanging baskets on windows and in the garden - they looked fabulous and fool of bloom during Spring but by now look kinda dry with fever blooms. Is there anything I can do to reinvigorate or refresh them or is it natural cycle?
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Keep dead heading for constant flowering, when watering hanging baskets make sure you water well, just because the water may be at the brim of the basket, doesn’t mean it’s enough water, remember the water has to soak through soil/compost first to reach roots.

Always make sure the the compost is thoroughly soaked. If it dries out it’s difficult to get it to retain moisture without leaving the basket in a bucket of water for a couple of hours.
Keep deadheading annuals as best you can. Feed regular with a good quality plant food.
The key to success is not to allow the compost to dry out.
Good luck.

compost dries out really quickly and doesn't have good structure. put a mix of soil and compost together with swell fell. swell fell will hold the water and the plant roots will take it from there and make sure to put slow release furtilizer in too.
