Do I really need hot water directly from boiler in my kitchen?

Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.49 PM

Basically my kitchen is in an awkward position to connect to my new boiler..esentially I'd have to run the two pipes through my ceiling void which would be messy. Any thoughts on on-demand hot water taps/mini boilers that run on electricity like quookers etc? Small flat, hot water in kitchen only really be used for rinsing plates etc. Are the running costs crazy etc?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

You could fit a 10-15litre under sink unvented hot water cylinder. This will connect to your cold feed and then to your kitchen hot tap. It will be heated by electricity. You will get hot water at near mains pressure.

An instantaneous water heater mounted under sink will provide hot water in a never ending supply. The unit is smaller than a storage unit with roughly the same installation cost. Redring offer good products.

I agree a small storage heater would suit, but not a hot tap as they are designed for boiling or near to boiling water for drinks etc. If you choose the instantaneous water heater which will also do the job just as well, you will need to check on the electrics as many of them need larger cables as they use a higher kilowatt to heat the water up.
