Plastering & Rendering

Front house rendering

Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.48 PM

Hi - due to mismatching bricks , mortar and general untidy look & feel , i have been thinking hard how best we can cover the patchwork yet maintain high standards on the look of the house w/o de-valuing the price. i have thought of re-pointing , brick tinting and also laying brick slips - out of the 3 i think brick slips would give us what we want however i have struggled to find tradesman competent in this area, lack of response. tinting and re-pointing would not give us a complete restoration so the option left is silicon based render - there are plenty of skills available and this would work with some exposed brick work with beadings etc. can i get some thoughts, advise, suggestions on this please.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

You can get render systems, that gets raked out to look like brickwork!!

Brick slips are definitely an option if you don’t have a huge amount to replace. You could also try and brick match your house, drill out and change them as a whole if they are scattered around. If they are in big patches this wouldn’t really be viable. The final look would work the best if it was also grinded out and repointed to keep a consistent colour. Regards Andy

I think brick slips would be the best option, It will be expensive but the finish would look fantastic and will help sell your property if and when you was to sell.

I would use Weber Pral m system, which is available in over 40 colours and can have Ashlar lines cut into the finish.
