Where to buy tiles?
Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.48 PM
Where do professional tilers buy tiles? Are there any particular retailers that are better/cheaper than other? Which tile shop would you recommend?
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

I personally use topps tiles as I have been for the last 5+ years, although they can be a bit more expensive then wickes or b & q for example, they are friendly and offer a lot of sound advice.

Personally I use Topps tiles but most of the time my clients buy the tiles their self from other suppliers.
Common problem when buying from cheap place is that this means cheap tile quality and for a tiler is a big problem.
Uneven and bent tiles, not square and so on.
So do not be surprised of the final result, tiles cannot be bent to suit.
Also tile and grout adhesives.
If some cost a fiver and some other cost 20up they are not stealing money from you,is what is called quality.

Hi Kate,
All depends what tiles you are looking for and your budget.
I have various suppliers with whom I have been working with over some period of time and they have different choices. Always a good idea to try and use your local shop(s) as you get to see/touch the tiles and take samples home (also much easier to return/swap for another!)
You may also find that some more 'exotic' materials may require a broader search.
Hope this helps!

I’n all fairness. The different suppliers all take it in turns being competitive. Shop around. See if the guy (or girl) who is doing the work for you has a discount card anywhere. Most of us can get 10-15% off at Wickes all the time. Only a few will pass that on C

The tiler we recommend to our customers usually works on large housing developments for a big homes company and they have trade accounts with Topps Tiles and CTDs (Ceramic Tile Distributers). You can get tiles from places like B and Q or Wickes and they will be cheaper, but you do also get cheaper quality with that. It depends what look you are going for. I’d advise looking in Topps Tiles as they are the best mid ground price wise. Good luck
