Removing 40mm from concrete slab to put in underfloor heating
Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.02 PM
I need to remove 40mm from my existing flooring concrete slab to allow me to put insulation and water underfloor heating. Any ideas how I can get a fairly smooth finish would be great

Have a look at the wonderfloor system.
It's a 20mm wet underfloor system.
Easier to remove 20mm of concrete.

Do not attempt to remove specific depths of concrete. Either remove it all or fit a retro system on top of existing ffl.

could be cheaper to raise the floor

personally i would cut concrete slab to required depth with cuts approx 25mm apart, i would then break out using a medium duty breaker and this will leave a fairly flat finish as cuts are close together

I would use an overlay system or remove the floor and start fresh as your existing won’t have a good thickness of insulation anyway ( should be 80 mm pir to current regs ) system will then operate a lot more efficiently
