Replace bath mixer from above

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.02 PM

I have a faulty thermostatic mixer tap on my bath that needs replacing. Unfortunately it’s positioned in the middle of the bath on the back wall and the bath is tiled in. Is there a way to change the tap from above? Ie if they’re connected to flexible pipes could these be pulled through from above to connect a new tap? Any other creative suggestions welcome!

Hi this would not be possible, I would look at seeing if you can create an access point from the below ceiling or room behind the bathroom. That is if this is possible?

With a bit of luck, you should be able to replace the thermostatic cartriges from above, without removing the whole body of the mixer. Get the original cartrige from the manufacturer, Close water supply to the bath tap. Remove the cartrige from the top/side Replace it and re assemble Reopen water supply. I'd like to point out, that if you disturbing where the tap is attached to the bath, you may create a leak on the rubber washer, or on the tap connector. As per AV Logic, an access from the other side of the wall behind the tap would be more appropriate for inspection or maintenance. Good Luck Tiziano

If the tap has a problem with holding the temperature, or is too cold, or too hot, you can replace the thermostatic cartridge from the same manufacturer for the specific product, from outside, without removing the whole tap.

In most cases bath needs to be removed in order to replace the bath tap.

I’d advise you cutting access panel from room behind- some cases I’ve managed to get access from the sides- maybe because I’m quiet small
