Roofing

Correct order of works on roof

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.02 PM

We’re having a flat resin coated roof put onto an extension. The roof is not yet finished, resin coating not completed, roof lights not yet fitted, plywood put over space where they will be. Guttering not yet fitted. Builder has already fitted plasterboard to ceiling, and covered roof with a tarpaulin. Heavy rain has got under tarp and is coming through unfinished roof, dripping through all joins and screw holes in plasterboard. My question is, surely the roof should have been completed and made watertight before plasterboard was fitted?? And will plasterboard now need replacing?? Thank you

Fascia and guttering first. Then OSB T&G upper deck on I presume a warm deck, followed by GRP trims, fibreglass mat and finally the top coat. Leadwork installed. Roof light then installed so you are fully watertight. Plasterboard then fitted.... Unbelievable!

Unfortunately the boards should not of been fitted before the top coat was applied and if the plywood sheets on the roof have now getting wet as well they will should be replaced as well as the grp resin will not bond correctly
