Can electrical wires run in the same channel as the plumbers pipes?

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.23 PM

Hi. We are currently doing up a house - complete refurb. Brother is an electrician so he took a week off work unpaid to sort out channels in the walls for all of the wiring/sockets etc. The following week, we weren't there but the plumber guy came and used those exact channels to put his pipes in. I thought water and electricity don't mix! Should the plumber not have cut out his own channels for pipes?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Yes make the plumber move his work. Cables and pipes should not be in same chase

Good evening, it is bad practice to run in the same channel as the pipe work. The plumber should have not carried out this task. All circuits should now be protected by RCBO’s therefore the risk is low. The cabling should be installed within flexible containment for additional protection from heated pipes.
