Hot and cold taps on wrong side...water dribbling out before it stops completely..This cant be right?

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 2.49 PM

Hi All..I have just had some bath taps put on and have realised that the cold tap is on the left and the hot tap is on the right. I know this is not normal and wondered if it was just a simple case of swapping the caps on the top or if you would need to swap the connection hoses underneath as at present they have been connected to the wrong side (although they would be correct on normal taps)(hot water coming out the cold tap)..At present when you turn the taps off, the taps dribble for a while before completely stopping...Is there special valves inside the taps that are for hot and cold water? If i just change the caps over this wont stop the dribbling...Can anyone help...

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Normal practice is cold on the right but if the taps were that way before there is not a lot you can do without added costs, the coloured indices can be swapped easily, as for dripping ,if its a monobloc mixer with a long spout capillary action can make it drip , also sometimes manufacturers debris can get on the washers.
