New vent pipe for new toilette

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.44 PM

Having to fit a new toilette in a garage. Stack pipe too far so a new soil pipe will be laid around 10mt long going to the pit. Can I fit the new vent going straight up from the new toilette? Can I use 50mm pipe for the new vent? All answers welcome. New soil pipe line will be going in the same chamber that the existing toilette but they are two different soil pipe. So the existing has the vent and the new has not. So I suppose it is better to fit a vent to the new soil pipe. But I am tight with dimension. Will a 50mm pipe enough? many thanks for all your answers. being very tight with space, do you thing 82mm pipe would be enough for a vent using 110mm soil? my issues is that i cannot fit the 110mm vent behind the wall going upwards because it will make the back access not suitable for a wheel chair. so i was thinking to fit an 82mm into the wall inside and come out drilling through the wall at a certain high so it is not in the way that the wheelchair will not go through. obviously 110 soil vent pipe will be best but i really need to be smaller than that. many thanks for your explanation guys, really appreciated. I will do as follow. I will run the new 110 soil pipe down to the pit. I will fit a 110/82 reducer and do the new vent with an 82 mm pipe going upwards straight from the toilette and going out from wall with a 90 bent and another 90 bent going upwards with fitting a gratings at the end. this is the best that i can do in terms of space leaving accessibility to the back for a wheel chair.

If you already have a vent on the existing stack then you shouldn’t really require a second vent. if both the old and new stack are going into the same inspection chamber.

Due to the length of the pipe run, I'd recommend that you fit a 110mm air admittance valve (AAV). This will act as a secondary vent and ensure that your toilet flushes properly. The new Floplast AAV's no longer require you to install them above the flood height of the highest appliance. 50mm pipe is too small for venting a toilet. The AAV can be boxed in at the side of the toilet via a bend or in a cavity. Air must be allowed to circulate and it has to be fitted vertically for it to work. I recommend 110mm, but as it's a secondary vent, a size smaller might be sufficient.

I’d like to answer by saying, you will most definitely need another vent. If it’s only the one toilet you should be ok with an 82mm vent, you will most definitely need another vent for the installation of this new drainage system connecting into existing chamber.

If you have a vent on existing soil pipe and both are going into the same chamber you will not require one
