Oven hood lights gone off, but power in their sockets

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.43 PM

The oven hood lights went off one day. Changed several bulbs, but no go. Checked both sockets (as they are twin) and there is power in both sockets. Why wont the lights come one. (The extractor fan appears to work fine when that is switched on).

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi, Sometimes the electronic controller within the hood controlling the lights fails due to either a lamp blowing causing a surge .The fan will remain working on the other side of the controller switch. Sometimes the most cost effective way is to replace the hood with new unit or see if there are any spare parts available for your existing hood and replace the lighting controller/switch with new.

Hi how’s you If there is power in the sockets the small flat connecter at the back of the socket Is sometimes dirty and pushed to far back , Turn the power off clean with a cotton bud and some vinegar then pull it forward a small bit and allow a few hours for it to dry off fit bulb and turn power back on Thanks

Hi Ensure the voltage of the lamps you are fitting are correct. 230v or possibly 12v needed. Regards Sam
