demolish extended portion of the wall?

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.24 PM

Hi, I have recently purchased a house and the toilet has peculiar shaped wall. The picture can be seen at https://drive.google.com/open?id=1vfBMZUINyq-CzrYaKhghQxCjXDFJLeB7 Any idea what it can be? What might be there beneath the wooden panels? Do you think there will be any problem if I plan to demolish the extended portion of the wall and make it plain ? It seems i can not post any comments. But @DMConstruction you are right about it. It is indeed for the head height of the stair.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Very unusual shape, I think something can be hiden there, why someone didn't do it straight? I See the water supply is going in corner on top of cupboard. Lift up one panel then Will be clear what is there. Thanks.

It looks like the stairwell is underneath the toilet and maybe the angle is for head height going up and down stairs 🤔

Hi there , That look like common set up for the ceiling below a staircase which can’t be taken out for head room while passing down the stairs , check if the staircase is below . We have run baths over it in the pass to give the maximum space in the toilet . Hope this helps

I'd remove the panel and you probably find a waste pipe if nothing there remove completely and make it straight
