You mean you need an EICR. Electrical Installation Condition Report. How long it takes? No longer than a day dependant on any issues found. The certificate would be available on the day, be it Satisfactory or Non Satisfactory. If you have any advisories, C1, C2, C3, F1 that will be explained by whoever does it or it’s on the Certificate notes. By the way the inspector deems how long the cert is for dependant on condition of installation if it’s private or going to be rented etc etc.

The length of the works would generally vary on whether there are any previous test certificates to relate to. Once tests are obtained on a percentage of the installation this would determine how much more needs to be tested. The certificate could be available as soon as results are obtained and drawn up. If any problems are found generally they are not resolved immediately. This will be discussed and recommendations will be given. There are different ratings of needs to improve things in ratings C1, C2 and C3. This will determine how urgent things are to improve. I hope this helps with any queries. Regards Steve
