Damp crumbling bricks

Yes this can be carried in a sequence operation to replace used in underpinning. Every750 mm cut out leave 750 mm standing .Do not attempted to cut out the lot in one go.once reinstated, pin up with slate and sand and cement joint at the top of the brick course, leave for 48 hours ,then repeat the operation, in between .if not confident to carry out then my suggestion is to call a local builder .

If it’s a small area and the other bricks around that are are in good condition and sound. You can cut out a small area and replace the bricks in a day. Viewing the work required is a must to confirm.

Hi Guys If its only 4 bricks across which equates to 900mm. He says, (the customer) it’s 3 rows high ? From the floor level ?. Anyway, it should be possible to insert STRONG BOYS supports just above the defective area, 2no should be enough and remove with care and attention the affective area without the need of underpinning. A visual assessment would be recommended. KAssa

Personally I would use strong boys to hold up the brickwork above the 3 courses take the 3courses out rebuild And use helibars with resin for the top course and point the front

tbe affected area ia approximately 12 bricks 4 bricks long 3 courses high , if the garage is 1 brick wide ,you can get a prop and a strongboy at the centre which will be 450 of the damaged area ,2 or 3 courses above ,the damaged area, khock one brick out , insert the strongboy and tighten the prop underneath that will keep the brickwork above solid ,knock out the damaged area ,replace with new brickwork, making sure the last course of the new brickwork and the old the mortar joint is tightly compacted , the next day come back take the prop and strongboy out and replace the brick above the area , if the area is greater than 900 long you might need 2 props placed accordingly,
