Foul waste & rainwater pipe into combined sewer

Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.48 PM

Hi, I am moving my bathroom to the front of our property as we are able to tap the foul waste into an existing rainwater connection to the combined sewer on our street. Instead of having x1 pipe for rainwater pipe & x1 foul waste pipe both connecting into the same drain can both pipes be combined into x1 pipe? Cheers Pete

Word of caution. You can discharge rain water in to a foul water system but under no circumstances can you discharge foul water in to a dedicated storm drain system! Check and identify which is which before proceeding any further, your council planning department will have diagrams of all sewer/storm drain systems.

If I read correctly you say that you have confirmed that you have a combined system. Problem is that the soil needs to vent to air above the eaves. This would not comply as it would effectively vent at gutter level.

Boiler homecare has given you the best answer. I can’t answer this any better. Check with the council and see what there advice is. I have seen shower and sink waste connected to storm drains and during storm back up into shower and sink. End result was leaves and soil in sink and shower.
