There is not much to separate in terms of quality for their emulsion, however Little Greene still do oil-based paints for woodwork which is generally tougher and give a better finish as the longer drying times lets the paint flatten out better than water-based paints. It often comes down to colour choice between the two brands for ceilings and walls. but I tend to avoid using F&B on woodwork.

"Which brand is better?" is always an interesting question to see answered. Most decorators will answer with their own bias, which could have been formed for any number of reasons. For example, it is cliché in our trade to hear decorators say that F&B is an "overrated" paint, but you won't hear much in terms of why (although I've often heard the word "chalky" thrown around). I think the adversity to these high-end paints mostly comes down to an inverted snobbery, but that's my opinion. If F&B and Little Greene were in the price range of Dulux/Leyland/Johnstone's etc, I would bet the house all decorators would recommend them. To answer the question: both companies are excellent and provide fantastic paints. Price-wise we are in the same ball park. They differ on their colour palettes and selection of oil-based/water-based (namely F&B do not produce oil-based paint). This opens up the never-ending debate of water-based vs oil-based, which again is rolled out on a carpet of biases, so probably best left for another post. Both brands also do a lot to cater to our very precious environment, so bonus points for both, but I really do think F&B take the lead on this matter (look into the efforts they put in at their factory to reduce their footprint). Ultimately - and I've gone about this the long way - the only real answer to your question is "it depends on what you want?" which you probably don't want to hear.

F&B are far overated... Its OK to use... But your just paying for the name.... Little green is by far the best paint I've ever used... And probably the most expensive... But worth it... Covers like a dream... Whether it be matt emulsion or gloss.... Proper paint.

There is little difference between F&B and Little Green paint in terms of quality and price. Little Green makes oil based paint, which is better to use on wood work because it gives a better finish.

Hallo F&B and Littel Greene, both are very good. Their strong side is covering and what differed them from the competition was the chemical composition, no chemical fumes but now that is changing and other companies are introducing healthier paints. For decorators, it is a pleasure to work with F&B or Littel Green when used properly. I appreciate F&B for their color palette.
