Why water in hallway where no pipes
Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.48 PM
Have been in the property for 12 months and renovated including fitted carpets throughout. Had skip delivered and put on parking space at side of house. Noticed the carpet was quite wet inside the small hallway but just slightly damp around the rest of the space. Have had all sources of internal water checked and it does not appear that there is any water pipe running under that part of the house. Help would be appreciated. Thank you

Hi,
You need a proper survey to identify the cause, not from a damp proofing company.

If there are no obvious leaks which you say you have had checked then there is clearly a problem either with water ingress, rising damp or possibly condensation. Obviously, it needs assessing properly to be certain what is causing the issue.

A damp surveyor would be able to find the source of the problem.

Hi, the first thing you should do is check for blocked drains around the affected area, possible easy fix. If no problems are found with drains or internal pipework,I would recommend a full damp report. If concrete (solid floor) maybe floor needs attention.
