cutting visible with white paint
Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.47 PM
I have painted a room with matt white paint (Dulux). Cut in about 2 inches around the room and rollered the rest. Did 2 coats of cut then roller and I noticed I could see the cutting. Should I do another coat of cut than roller? or should I do one or the other? The cut is darker than the roller, I painted over magnolia (eggshell). Thanks

You shouldn’t cut in too much paint ahead of rolling as the brush marks will dry , If the room is quite warm I’d literally just cut in and roll one wall at a time also the eggshell paint you painted over would need a good rub down before coating over as it’s a thick paint.

Before you start rubbing anything down because you are applying matt which does not flash just roll all the walls again this should rectify your problem

When "cutting in" you should only do an area no more than appx 1m long then roller that section so the cutting in blends in as you can use roller close to edge, 1-2cm.
Otherwise if you do all the 'cutting in' first those paintbrush strokes dry before using roller & will be more visible. To rectify you might have to use sander to make the 'cutting in' less visible.

A bit late answering your query but you would be fine by just giving the walls another coat using the roller as you gave two coats cutting in and only rolled once, that's why the cutting in was showing.
