New cooker I want to buy
Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.47 PM
I want to buy a new cooker but the new cooker I have seen has a 32 fuse, where my cooker at home only has a 30 fuse, Can I still buy the cooker or not

It’s not the cooker that has the 30 or 32 amp rating, it relates to the supply to the cooker point you have. So, yes you will be ok to purchase your new cooker.

I agree with the answer here, put simply, the cooker will have a bit of leeway built in, a circuit fed by a 30 amp fuse should feed a 32 amp cooker just fine

Although the cooker may never well pull the full 32 amps (unless everything is on), if the manufacturers instructions state 32 amp breaker then that’s what you should go with.

Always follow manufactures instructions and specification, Its there for a reason. However the older 30amp fuses would be just as suitable as the 32amp MCBs currently installed aslong as everything is installed correctly. If in doubt call a registered electrician and stay safe.

Generally speaking, yes you can buy the new cooker which recommends a protection by 32A breaker if you have 30A breaker ptotecting the old cooker circuit but i suggest inviting a local qualified electrician to check the cable size and the point where you will connect the new cooker and confirm all coordinated well and safe. Agree price for the new cooker connection so they won't charge you on the 1st visit.
