Roofing

Flat roof hopper outlet.

Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.47 PM

I have an old but sound torch on felt garage roof (think it was a system called testudo?). The outlet formed by the original installer has leaked for sometime, between the roof and the back of the fascia and blackened the ply decking. I do not wont the expense of a new roof and wonder if it is technically possible to lift the felt at the outlet, fit a lead or similar "shute" and reseal. I would welcome suggestions and prices. Thanks.

Hi Yes this is definitely possible. Lift the felt at the outlet fit leat Shute as you say and the-seal, if it is torched in felt just the-heat with hand held has torch and hold down onto lead until it sticks.

If the end of the felt is easy to lift up then do so , but fit a section of lead underneath and then dress into the hopper head. The felt can then be sealed back onto the lead chute

Fit a piece of proper guttering to the front of the fascia and remove the hopper the hopper will cause the timber to rot but if the timber is rotten behind the fascia this will have to be removed
