Gas Works

How difficult is it to replace a horizontal radiator with vertical

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.43 PM

Hi I am not a gas/plumber. I was browsing online to buy a new designer wall mounted vertical radiator (180cm x 45cm) its one of these that has a glass front with photo. I currently have a normal horizontal double size radiator that is connected with copper pipe coming out from the floor. i will remove this in my dining space as it takes up space and chair and table cover the heating up. I will be replacing this by 2 vertical glass panel designer radiator that will be wall mounted. Can the plumber use existing copper pipe quite easily to connect both these radiator and embed the pipe into the wall to hide them?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

I would be surprised if your new vertical rads would go straight onto your existing pipe work, if you have floorboards this shouldn’t be too big a problem, if your pipes are buried in a concrete floor is a bit more of a headache but principals should be the same, I would... 1...remove old radiator 2...hang new one in on brackets in desired position (providing existing pipework not in way) 3... run new pipework from rad to tie into existing pipes under floor, set into wall if required, Shouldn’t be a tough job to change a couple of those!
